Staff Sgt. Wolfe meets first responders who helped save his life

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WOWK) – U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew “Andy” Wolfe met Wednesday with some of the first responders who helped save his life in November.

Andy, 25, of Martinsburg, and a West Virginia National Guard member, met with some of the crew members of Engine 16 from D.C. Fire and EMS who rushed to his aid when he was shot in the head the day before Thanksgiving.

Melody Wolfe, Andy’s mother, tells Nexstar’s WOWK that two of the Engine 16 crew members, Lt. Gene Ryan and Firefighter Skimmons, were on the scene and even stayed with him until he made it to the emergency room. She says that for that, she will be forever grateful.

Melody also says that they hope to meet with the responders who weren’t on shift on Wednesday sometime in the near future.

At the fire station, Andy and his mother got to shake the hands of the men who provided life-saving help and a constant companion through the chaos…
