Charlie Wylie of Port Jervis and Victoria Alvarado of Warwick are hoping to add to their title haul at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association girls wrestling championships. The senior Wylie (26-1) hopes to repeat at 107 pounds while the junior Alvarado (5-0) seeks to win at 145 after winning at 152 in 2025 – both are top seeds.
The girls tournament is a one-day event on Thursday, February 26, at the MVP Arena in Albany. The double-elimination event will have matches for first, third and fifth place. There is also a team competition.
Section 9 (Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, part of Dutchess County) will send 22 girls to the event. Arlington and Roy C. Ketcham from Section 1 (Dutchess, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam) will send five qualifiers…
