LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with SoMa 501 said on Tuesday that a year-long public art and community learning series is being launched in Little Rock’s South Main Street district.
Officials said the Math on Main series will transform SoMa into a walkable outdoor math experience through art, music, food and permanent street installations. Math on Main is being produced as part of the Simon’s Foundation Infinite Sums national initiative, they added.

Three public events will take place in 2026 as part of Math on Main, officials said, unveiling a permanent, math-inspired crosswalk or mural along Main Street. The installations will form the Math Path on Main, a lasting public art corridor intended to invite curiosity, slow traffic and encourage people to walk and gather in the neighborhood.
MATH ON MAIN EVENTS
- Math on Main kicks off on Pi Day, March 14, with the debut of a Pi-themed crosswalk, launching the first stop along the Math Path. The event will feature DJ for a Day, math and music‑theory activities, the Big Bubble Blast, and programming for children under 10. Free circle-shaped snacks—pies, pizzas, and cookies—will be offered to visitors.
- On Infinity Day, Aug. 8, the Math Path grows with the unveiling of an infinity-themed crosswalk. The celebration will explore infinity as both a mathematical idea and a human experience, highlighted by a community wedding and vow‑renewal ceremony. Loop-shaped foods will be served throughout the day.
- The series wraps up on Fibonacci Day, Nov. 23, with Fibonacci Friendsgiving. A long communal table will run down Main Street for a free public meal featuring spiral-shaped dishes and natural Fibonacci patterns. During the event, residents will help install a wind-activated kinetic mural inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, creating permanent artwork that responds to its surroundings.
Officials said Math on Main is presented in partnership with Annie Childers and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Mathematics and Statistics Department, whose faculty and students will help develop activities and interact with visitors throughout the series…
