HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Heavy rains this past weekend caused Waiawa Stream to overflow, leaving a nearby resident worried about the potential impact on his home.
Albert Kim, who has lived near the stream for five years, says debris caught under the bike path bridge over Waiawa Stream is making flooding worse. The debris includes items from a nearby junkyard and remnants of a homeless camp, and Kim says it increases the risk of future flooding if more rain comes.
“When the rain is continuing, the water came over the bridge, down the street, back into the junkyard, and everybody just kind of took a big hit,” Kim said…
