HONOLULU (KHON2) – Malama Maunalua is hosting a fishing tournament this Sunday, March 1, to fish out invasive species.

It not only helps the environment but also feeds many people. Organizers say the response to the Malama Maunalua Fishing Derby has been incredible.
They originally planned for 40 teams, but interest was so strong that they expanded to 60. Right now, they have 54 teams signed up, representing more than 170 fishers, and they capped it at 60 to make sure the weigh-in runs smoothly and the event stays manageable.
On top of that, they’re expecting more than 120 additional community members to attend the public event at Maunalua Bay…
