Columbus man arrested, charged in string of vehicle break-ins

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – One person is behind bars following a series of vehicle break-ins in Columbus.

22-year-old Trevian Hipp was arrested at his home on Feb. 19. He is facing 35 charges which includes:

  • 21 counts of entering auto
  • Criminal attempt entering auto
  • 2 counts of theft by receiving stolen property
  • Theft by taking (motor vehicle)
  • 10 counts of financial transaction card theft

His arrest stems from 20 cases involving vehicle break-ins in the area of Schomburg Road. According to Columbus police, officers recovered the following during a search of Hipp’s residence:

  • Three firearms— two of which were reported stolen
  • Multiple bank cards belong to entering auto victims,
  • Additional bank cards and documents,

They also say masks, gloves, and clothing matching surveillance footage and a window-punching tool were found. There were 24 individuals identified as victims in the cases…
