STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After New York City closed schools for a traditional snow day on Monday after a historic blizzard dumped more than two feet of snow, many Staten Island students opted to stay home from school again on Tuesday after buildings reopened, data shows.
According to the city education department, 63.2% of students citywide attended school on Tuesday. Many boroughs saw similar attendance numbers — except Staten Island.
