Owner of Syracuse-area hotels ordered to pay back $373K in taxes he avoided

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — An owner of Syracuse-area hotels pleaded guilty to avoiding paying room-occupancy taxes in Onondaga County Court on Thursday morning.

Satish Patel, the owner of The Patel Group, owed Onondaga County more than $373,000 in unpaid taxes and interest from 2023 and 2024.
