Savannah’s Starland parking: Residents demand city action in letter

The Starland District is, arguably, the best place to live in Savannah. It has an electric art scene, exciting bars, restaurants and music venues, history, walkability, and an incredible sense of community. But parking is a nightmare, especially for its residents. Our homes are not built with driveways or garages, so we’re dependent on street parking. Cafes, gyms and employees of local businesses fill those parking spots during the day. Once the restaurants and bars open, it becomes nearly impossible to find a parking spot.

In September, the City of Savannah hosted an open house to share findings and recommendations from the Parking Matters study that was launched in April 2024. That study had real solutions for our neighborhood’s residents, including metered parking and parking decals… but we haven’t heard anything since…
