South Carolina woman arrested for alleged jury duty scam that cost Leon County woman thousands

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A South Carolina woman is charged with grand theft after allegedly scamming a Leon County woman out of thousands of dollars, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced.

Brenda Huggins, 56, is accused of calling the victim in 2025 claiming she had missed jury duty and there was a warrant for her arrest.

Investigators said Huggins instructed the victim to pay fines using prepaid debit cards that were purchased at several Leon County businesses…
