Cazenovia advisor admits stealing $640K from clients: ‘I gambled with people’s livelihoods, and I failed’

Syracuse, N.Y. – A former investment broker and Syracuse University graduate accused of stealing over $600,000 from clients pleaded guilty to aggravated wire fraud and identity theft on Thursday.

Dean Dellas, 41, of Cazenovia, took money from savings and retirement accounts of a 61-year-old man, the man’s 91-year-old mother and two other family members, according to court documents.

Dellas faces up to 22 years in prison for the two crimes he agreed to plead guilty to. Prosecutors said they would recommend he be sentenced to about 5 to 6 years in prison…
