Iowa City and Johnson County are committing significant time and resources to help house local military veterans.
Johnson County invested more than $2 million to refurbish the apartment complex at 1102 Hollywood Blvd., just south of Highway 6. The Iowa City City Council approved an agreement with the county to acquire the property for $1 on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The city said it will manage 15 new affordable housing units exclusively for military veterans.
