Des Moines police identify man shot and killed by officers following stabbing incident

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is releasing more information after officers shot and killed a man who they said had stabbed a security officer.

On Thursday, Feb. 19, dispatchers received multiple 911 calls from the Polk County Life Services Center, located at 1914 Carpenter Avenue, reporting that a security officer had been stabbed.

When police began to arrive on scene, staff identified a man outside the building, 24-year-old Hunter Munoz, as the suspect. The first officer on scene began to provide directions, but Munoz was “non-compliant,” the department said in a press release…
