ROCKFORD, IL — Members of the Rockford School Board will tonight vote on a new three-year deal with the district’s nearly 2,000 teachers, nurses and social workers.
Rockford Education Association members voted to ratify the agreement over the weekend, averting a potential strike. The new agreement is expected to make the school district more competitive on pay with other area districts.
Pending School Board approval, it includes:
- Base salary increases of 4% in years one and two and 4.5% in year three. That is in addition to pay increases for years of service and educational attainment. Base salary increases begin from contract ratification.
- Retroactive payments for years of service and education earned but unpaid so far this school year. But it does not include retroactive pay for base salary increases.
- Staff members who have more than 20 years experience at the top of the pay scale and are not eligible for lane movement receive a $1,000 ratification bonus.
Rockford School Board members will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the administration building to consider the contract…
