Sunny Rae Room opens in downtown Bixby with vintage charm and salsa flair
BIXBY, Okla. – A new intimate event space inspired by family, antiques and community is opening in downtown Bixby’s River District. The Sunny Rae Room, located at 109 N. Armstrong Ave., is the vision of owner Brandi Wheeler, who designed the venue as a tribute to her Memaw—someone she credits with a love of hosting, good food and bringing people together.
Wheeler said the Sunny Rae Room is meant to feel like gathering with close family and friends. The décor draws heavily from 1920s art deco style, evoking speakeasy-era charm. She spent the last two years researching and visiting antique stores across Oklahoma, selecting pieces that reminded her of her grandparents and her Memaw’s distinctive fashion sense.
“I wanted the space to remind people of how it feels when you’re with your aunts, grandmas and girlfriends,” Wheeler said. “That sense of warmth, connection and comfort.”…
