Two years after a San Antonio-born polo star suffered a devastating injury that ended his playing days, the family is now selling the Florida farm that for decades has been known as a home for champions.
Valiente Polo Farm, a 150-acre property of “pristine, private and immaculately” manicured land in Wellington, Florida, — near West Palm Beach — has been listed by Icon Global for the first time since the family bought the property in 1993. The property has been the home of the Valiente Polo Team for decades, earning international recognition for its dominance in the Gauntlet of Polo and the U.S. Open Polo Championship. Now the family is looking for the next custodians to carry on its legacy.
“Valiente Farm is hallowed ground, and no matter its future owner or its future use, it will always be hallowed ground in the world of Polo,” Icon Global Founder Bernard Uechtritz said in a news release.
The property was established by Robert “Bob” Jornayvaz, who was born in San Antonio but established a successful business empire in Denver before investing in his polo operations in Florida. Valiente Farm encompasses several buildings, including the 87,000-square-foot polo farm, a maintenance facility, a building and yard, 14,000 square feet of employee/groom’s quarters with 11 bedrooms, a viewing pavilion, three polo fields, a stick and ball field and a warm-up track.
