[1] Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office grieves death of sergeant killed on Monday – BCSO continues to grieve one of their own after the death of Sergeant Michael Schlattman. When announcing his death, Sheriff John Allen made an emotional speech as he remembered helping train Sergeant Schlattman as a cadet and rookie. Sheriff Allen says Schlattman had been conducting a traffic stop on I-40. While he was outside of his unit, a semi truck hit the back of the car, pinning him underneath. The Rio Rancho Police Department is leading the investigation into the crash. So far, no charges have been filed.

[2] Santa Fe officials continue talks on what to do with Soldiers’ Monument – Six months have passed since a court-ordered deadline for Santa Fe to rebuild the controversial soldiers’ monument on the Santa Fe Plaza. Tuesday, an architecture firm gave a presentation on options the city could take. A measure will be introduced at Wednesday’s regular city council, which starts at 5 p.m., to temporarily move what’s left of the monument to the New Mexico History Museum.

[3] Warmest weather this year & very breezy around New Mexico – Winds will return Wednesday afternoon, with gusts up to 45 mph possible. Southeast New Mexico will once again face critical fire weather conditions. At the same time, temperatures will climb even higher Wednesday, with several cities likely to challenge or break record highs as more communities rise into the 70s and 80s…
