Thurston swims to historic state title in boys swimming

SPRINGFIELD, Ore– First times in life are always truly special, and become even more incredible when they still happen even several years later. Over the years, Thurston high school has won dozens of state titles in more than a handful of different sports.

But last weekend, the school added a new state title to a sport that they had never won before. With splashes echoing off the walls of the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center, Thurston boys swimming would make history winning the program’s first state title.

“These kids have worked so hard and honestly, like I wanted to cry,” head coach Sarah Keim said. “I was so happy these kids have worked so hard and for them to get the recognition that they really deserve means meant so much to me. So it was just overwhelmed with pride and happiness that they were able to be seen for all of the hard work that they’ve done.”…
