Spokane family shares their organ donation story as 2025 marks record year for transplants in WA

SPOKANE, Wash. — In Washington state, 2025 marked a record year for organ transplants with 337 organ donors saving the lives of 930 patients waiting for transplants, according to LifeCenter Northwest. The nonprofit, which facilitates organ donation and transplantation across the state, said the milestone underscores the importance of families having conversations about donation long before tragedy strikes.

Behind the statistics is the story of Nick Brommer and his late wife, Chantal.

Nick met Chantal in the late 1990s and says he was instantly drawn to her energy, he said she was adventurous, gregarious and quick to make people feel like old friends. Both had twin daughters when they met, and within six months, they were married. They later welcomed a son, blending their household into what Nick fondly calls “beautiful chaos.”…
