Woman sentenced for role in death of Cleveland Heights grandma

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The first of four people accused of having a role in the shooting death of a Cleveland Heights grandma has been sentenced in the case.

Legacy Simmons, 27, who previously pleased guilty to obstruction of justice was sentenced Thursday morning to 1 year of community control.

As FOX 8 previously reported, four people, including a 16-year-old boy, were charged for their involvement in the death of 74-year-old Edith Moore.

Last January, officers were called around 3 a.m. to the 3500 block of Randolph Road for reports of a shooting, where they found Moore had been shot in the head.

As FOX 8 previously reported, the prosecutor’s said they believe the elderly victim got caught in the crosshairs as suspects in the case attempted to rob an 18-year-old inside the house.
