Communities navigate high firework demand ahead of America’s 250th anniversary

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The country’s semi quincentennial is driving up firework demands months ahead of July. The high prices are squeezing some communities, but there’s still a determination to mark a celebration 250 years in the making.

This year also marks a century of history for the Village of Constantine, the Seed Corn Capitol of the World and home of seed producer Pioneer Hi Bred International.

“Pioneer’s 100th anniversary this year as well. So, the kind of the theme of growing together for the last 100 years has been an important theme for us”, said Jim Bontrager, interim village manager.
