Gun found in KSU dorm; student arrested

Makayla Jnae Phillips, 18, of Kennesaw, is accused of having a Taurus 9mm handgun in her dorm room on Feb. 17 at 11:45 p.m. at Kennesaw State University Housing and Residence Life’s University Village Suites, 1074 Canton Place, Kennesaw, according to an arrest warrant from the KSU Campus Police Department.

Phillips was asked to exit the room to await a search warrant and was advised multiple times to not enter the room per search warrant procedures. Phillips entered the room anyway and refused to exit the room after being told numerous times and attempted to close the door to her room obstructing officers, according to the warrant.

Phillips is charged with obstruction/hindering law enforcement; and possession of weapon at school/function. She was arrested on Feb. 17 at 11:57 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
