HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A recent study of shrimp dishes at 44 randomly selected seafood restaurants along the Grand Strand showed that most places are likely serving farm-raised, imported shrimp, rather than American wild-caught shrimp, according to SeaD Consulting.
Genetic testing completed between Feb. 6-10 and found that only 25%, or 11 of the 44 restaurants tested, were serving authentic American wild-caught shrimp; the other 33 were found to be serving farm-raised, imported shrimp.
Below is a list of the 11 Grand Strand restaurants that were confirmed to be serving authentic American wild-caught shrimp:
McDonald’s is bringing the Big Arch, its ‘biggest’ burger ever, to the US

A list of the restaurants that were confirmed to be serving farm-raised, imported shrimp was not provided by SeaD Consulting. In a statement to News13, SeaD Consulting said, “It is SeaD’s policy to only release the names of the restaurants found to be inauthentic to regulating authorities for investigation. In South Carolina, there is not a regulating authority for the state, but it’s in the works, per [House Bill 4248], which just passed in the committee hearing.”…
