Vallaro’s, the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Tennessee, has closed permanently after more than 100 years in business.

According to Bob Peabody, who bought the business from the Varallo family in 2019, had to close the restaurant because he couldn’t negotiate a new lease with the landowner, The Tennessean reported.

“The Arcade property was sold to new owners a while back,” Peabody said. “And Varallo’s, the space is actually part of that Arcade group. I was just not able to negotiate a new lease with the new owners… They’re not willing to negotiate a lease with me. They have offered something, but it wouldn’t be financially viable.”…
