San Jose daycare owner pleads guilty after toddlers drown in pool

(KRON) — The owner of a San Jose daycare where two toddlers drowned in a pool pleaded guilty to 10 felony charges, including child endangerment resulting in death, prosecutors told NewsNation local affiliate KRON4.

Nina Fathizadeh, 42, will face up to 23 years in prison when she was sentenced on May 8. Fathizadeh entered her plea on Monday, the same day that her trial was slated to begin in the Santa Clara County Hall of Justice, court records show.

Her mother, who is charged in the same case, did not enter a plea and her trial is underway this week, according to court records.
