Help Honor A Texas World War II Veteran’s 100th Birthday

Charles Elliott will be celebrating his 100th birthday on Wednesday, March 4. The World War II veteran is a resident of the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home located in Amarillo, Texas. What does a hero hope to receive for his 100th birthday? How about 100 birthday cards? I think we can do a lot better than that.

Charles Elliott’s Military Background

Elliott served during World War II in occupied Japan, first as a Private First Class (PFC) Rifleman and later as a PFC Cook in the officers’ mess at the 128th Station Hospital. Elliott’s decorations include the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupational Medal, Japan Victory Ribbon, and two Overseas Service Bars.

This program is an outreach effort coordinated by the Veterans Land Board and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to garner support from communities for Texas State Veterans Home residents celebrating this incredible milestone. Texans can show their support and help celebrate this momentous occasion by sending birthday cards to Mr. Elliott at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home.
