IOWA CITY, Iowa — Yard waste is not allowed in household trash under Iowa law, and city officials are reminding residents of proper disposal options as seasonal yard work begins.
State law prohibits yard waste from being landfilled, and open burning of yard waste is not allowed within Iowa City. Instead, residents are encouraged to use composting and other approved disposal methods.
