PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon junior Kiara Romero set a new UO women’s golf record with her fifth career tournament win at the Chevron Collegiate on Tuesday.
Romero led the No. 3 Ducks to a second-place finish in the 17-team field. She entered the final round on Tuesday with only a one-shot lead and hit 3-under 69 to win the individual medalist honors.
With this victory, Romero surpassed the Oregon record for the most individual wins in program history. The San Jose, Calif. native finished out last season as the No. 1 ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and received the 2025 McCormack Medal. She is also the first two-time, first-team all-American in Oregon women’s golf history (2024 & 2025).
“Kiara showed again this week why she’s the best player in college golf and the top-ranked amateur in the world,” shared Oregon women’s golf head coach Derek Radley. “She was locked in from the start and navigated this golf course beautifully. It was awesome to see her get another win and super special for her to break yet another program record. The legacy she is leaving here at Oregon is unbelievable and I can’t wait to see what she does next.”…
