Akron man heading to prison for firing gun in Kent bar

An Akron man will spend 4½ years in prison for causing a panic when he fired a gun in October in a Kent bar.

Portage County Common Pleas Judge Becky Doherty sentenced Jack Massie III, 20, on Feb. 23, according to court records. She also ordered that he pay $276 in court costs.

Doherty credited Massie with 115 days he has served in Portage County Jail and ordered him to forfeit a .45-caliber pistol to Kent police to be destroyed…
