Man acquitted of resisting arrest after being detained in theft case: Public Defender’s Office

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man who the Public Defender’s Office says was detained on suspicion of theft despite differences between him and the description of the suspect was acquitted Wednesday on felony and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest.

Aaron Lee Murry was found not guilty in a verdict reached “after a very quick deliberation” of about 30 minutes, according to a Kern County Public Defender’s Office release.

At trial, Deputy Public Defender Nathalie Sahakian played surveillance video that showed Murry wasn’t the person who on Sept. 4 stole two iPhones near Tao Spa on New Stine Road, the release says…
