Rocky Mountain elk seen in the Central Valley

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Rocky Mountain elk has been taking a solo trip across the Central Valley for the last few months.

He’s recently called the Oakhurst/Ahwahnee area home. California Fish and Wildlife says he was last seen in Ahwahnee off Road 600. But his favorite place to hang out is the Ahwahnee Hills Regional Park.

And since his stay in the Valley, he’s been quite curious. Fighting metal roosters, getting tangled up in lawn chairs, and even sporting a new look, finding a tarp that he got stuck in his antlers.
