Carjacker arrested after returning to jeweler he tried to rob in Madera, police say

MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man accused of a weekend carjacking in Madera was arrested after returning to the scene of the crime on Wednesday.

Police say on Sunday, around 3:20 p.m., 31-year-old Eduardo Cruz-Cortes, hidden behind a mask, approached a man sitting in his vehicle behind the Lowe’s shopping center.

According to officers, he then brandished a firearm and forced him into the backseat before driving to a local jewelry store, with the intent to commit a robbery…
