Two Battle Creek firefighters fall through hole while battling house fire

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Two firefighters were hurt after falling through a large hole while putting out a house fire Friday morning, according to the Battle Creek Fire Department (BCFD).

Crews were called to a house fire on East Kingman Avenue near Euclid Street just after 7 a.m., the department said. When they got there, firefighters noticed the back of the home was on fire.

Though it was contained within 10 minutes, the fire was burning long enough to create a large hole in the first floor dining area — the hole that the two firefighters fell through, according to BCFD.

Both were only minorly injured and plan to work their next shift, the department said. No other injuries were reported…
