The Peninsula City has broken ground on a long-planned, fully affordable complex on a formerly vacant lot that will create the first new supportive and senior housing units the city has seen in decades.
The Bayonne Housing Authority broke ground recently on what is being called the Bayonne Senior and Supportive Services affordable housing development at 7 Oak Street. The development is set to rise on a parcel that was once home to a power-generating station and is set to rise six stories.
The development is being financed through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and will include 40 affordable units. 20 of the homes will be designated for seniors, while the other half will be set aside for supportive housing units for individuals with disabilities…
