ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A Virginia-based finance company says the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate is now just below 6%, the first time it has been that low since 2022, and local real estate experts say the Roanoke Valley housing market is stabilizing after years of volatility.
Montana Shively and her boyfriend had been watching the market for years, priced out by high interest rates and home prices. When rates dropped enough to bring monthly payments in line with her rent, they started looking.
