Savannahians filed into the Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center ballroom last October to have their say in future development at the site. There were a variety of options ranging from for-sale row homes and condos, to apartments, workforce housing and different scales of retail development.
Now, city staff and consultants have revealed the product of that engagement with an outline for how the coming mix of housing and retail could actually look. There is potential for 230 to 300 housing units and 32,500 square feet to 45,000 square feet of commercial space viable on the site, according to a presentation from real estate and land use consultants RCLCO and EDSA.
