Evergreen Recycling to close Clyde plant, 163 jobs lost in Sandusky County

CLYDE, Ohio — Evergreen Recycling LLC will permanently close its facility in Clyde, eliminating 163 jobs in Sandusky County, according to a notice filed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The plant, located at 202 Watertower Drive, ceased operations on Feb. 24. All layoffs are expected to be completed by April 24. The closure is described as permanent.

In a WARN Act filing, the company cited a sudden financial crisis tied to actions by its revolving credit lender. On Feb. 13, the lender withdrew all of Evergreen’s available cash while the company was in active discussions with potential buyers, according to the filing.
