The Charleston County Coroner’s Office is proud to announce that it has been fully accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), affirming that its operating policies, procedures, and practices are aligned with the national standard guidelines.
Charleston County Coroner’s Office is the only Coroner’s Office in the state to achieve this milestone and one of just a handful of Coroner or Medical Examiner’s Offices nationwide to be dually accredited by both NAME and the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners (IACME). The Coroner’s Office was reaccredited by NAME in December 2025 and by IACME in October 2025.
In NAME’s accreditation notification addressed to Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal, Inspection and Accreditation Committee Barbara Wolf, M.D. wrote in part, “The citizens [of Charleston County] can be proud of the hard work, dedication, and leadership made by you and your staff in attaining this accreditation…Congratulations on this honor and thank you for your continued support of one of the best offices in the country.”…
