Elevated fire risk Friday in southeast Iowa due to warm and windy conditions

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — The spring-like warmth Friday is coming with an elevated fire risk in parts of eastern Iowa. Red Flag Warnings have been posted in far southeast Iowa where there’s been bare ground all week.

With the snow melting, the concern for fires sparking extends toward Cedar Rapids and Dubuque.

There’s dry grounds, dry air, and strong winds which can lead to fire starting easily and spreading quickly. Fires can be hard to contain in these conditions, as was seen last week in Johnson County…
