Trial set for Oklahoma man accused of stealing more than $25K from Fort Smith bank

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The jury trial for an Oklahoma man accused of robbing a Fort Smith bank of more than $25,000 has been set, according to court documents.

Aljon Smith, 31, of Luther, Okla., is facing one count of armed aggravated robbery and one count of theft of property worth $25,000 or more. He was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center on Feb. 12.

Court records show that Smith pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Feb. 25. Smith’s trial date has been set for July 13, and his plea deadline is June 24.

The Fort Smith Police Department said it responded to a bank robbery at the 2500 block of Rogers Avenue around 3:40 p.m. on Jan. 20.
