KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Mayor Quinton Lucas and Councilwoman Melissa Robinson officially introduced an ordinance Thursday that would ban the sale of certain single-serve alcohol products in five Kansas City neighborhoods.
KCTV5 has reported extensively on this. It would establish a Retail Alcohol Impact Area Plan in the Prospect Corridor, Independence Avenue Overlay, Midtown, Downtown, and Blue Ridge Corridor — areas the city said have documented public safety concerns and recurring quality-of-life complaints from residents.
Under the proposed plan, stores in the designated areas — excluding grocery stores — would be prohibited from selling individual containers of hard liquor half-pints, nips, minis, and airplane bottles with an alcohol content of 35% or more, as well as malt beverages and beer sold in containers of 40 ounces or less…
