Drugs, Firearm Recovered During Wednesday Afternoon Traffic Stop in Central Lincoln

LINCOLN–(KFOR Feb. 27)–A 44-year-old Lincoln man seen driving with no license plates near 30th and “O” on Wednesday afternoon was later arrested and put in jail for having drugs, driving on a revoked license and having a firearm.

Lincoln Police Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the Narcotics Task Force has been tracking the vehicle and stopped it in an alley off of South 30th between “N” and “M” Streets, where David Montoya was contacted and a passenger was detained without incident. A passenger in Montoya’s vehicle got out and was taken into custody without incident, but Montoya tried to leave, but backed in reverse toward police and got stuck on a wooden fence.

After giving several commands, Thomas says investigators used a pepper ball launcher, but Montoya continued trying to drive away before getting out and running off, attempting to enter a nearby locked home. At the back door, he resisted arrest, reaching for a fixed-blade knife in a sheath on his hip. He was ultimately placed into custody…
