If you would have visited the site of what’s now the Black Business Hub on south Park Street a decade ago, you probably would not have imagined what it looks like now.
In October, John Patterson chose the Hub as the place where he would be sworn in as Madison’s police chief, noting at the ceremony that it was the former site of a gas station that was the source of many police calls.
“For me, the ceremony just had to be here,” said Patterson, who spent much of his career as commander of the department’s South District. “It created all sorts of issues for the neighborhood and our police department, but today it’s the premier enterprise center.”…
