I’m not going to bury the lede here: This house has a basement. A full, honest-to-goodness, finished basement that accounts for more than 700 of its 4,655 square feet. My husband is from the Midwest, where everyone has a basement. When we go visit his family, the kids retreat downstairs to play games, or watch TV, or do whatever goofy stuff they want to do without disturbing the main-level peace. A basement is a game changer. It’s maybe—maybe?—the key to a happy family life. And if you buy this house, you don’t even have to move to Iowa to get one.
