Stuffed Subs in Spring, Tony’s Italian Deli Muscles Into City Place

Tony’s Italian Delicatessen is making a move closer to Houston, with plans for a third area location in Spring. The popular deli is set to take roughly 2,000 square feet on the ground floor of City Place 1 at 1700 City Plaza Dr and is aiming to open to the public in late summer.

In a statement to the press, Tony’s confirmed the lease and said the space will be a full-service outpost, with landlords and brokers finalizing terms. As reported by Houston Chronicle, the lease was brokered by Lindsey McKean of SHOP Companies and Zac Warren of Winthrop Realty Group, and City Place leaders said the deli will have access to more than 20,000 employees and residents. “They bring exactly the kind of energy we want in the community,” Andrew Giammalva, vice president of CDC Houston, said in the statement.

Menu and Honors

The menu is built around oversized Italian subs like the Carnegie, alongside limoncello cake, tiramisu and cannoli, crowd-pleasers that helped Tony’s earn Yelp honors, including Best Sandwich Shop in Texas in 2024 and 2025 and a No. 4 national ranking in 2025. Those accolades and the site’s loyal following were noted by the Houston Chronicle, which reported that the new City Place location appears to be opening “two doors to the right” of Sushi Rebel…
