At the annual LHSAA convention meeting of statewide principals and athletic directors Thursday in Baton Rouge, a proposal that would have granted a one-time option for students to have immediate athletic eligibility after transferring got voted down for the second year in a row, this time by a 287-59 margin.

Critics of the one-time transfer rule say it is a way for select schools to gain an advantage over the LHSAA’s nonselect schools. They also argue that it would make high school sports mirror college athletics…
