Cities don’t control HOAs. A new Eagle committee wants to encourage collaboration amongst HOA leaders

Homeowners’ associations struggling with neighborhood problems is a tale as old as time.

These mini governments that make rules and maintain common spaces in neighborhoods, which are sometimes self-governed by neighbors or still run by a developer if a neighborhood is still under construction, handle a wide variety of issues. This includes everything from landscaping, discussions about dues, financial transparency, pests like rats, to barking dogs and more.

Eagle City Council Member Nancy Merrill, who was newly sworn in last week, said she is working with the City of Eagle to set up a new committee made up of local HOA elected leadership to meet quarterly to discuss ongoing problems impacting HOAs across the city. She said the goal of the committee would be to facilitate communication and problem-solving between HOA leaders who have similar problems throughout the city…
