He was cleared more than a year ago of 3 counts of homicide by vehicle. So why is he facing trial next week?

Nelson Segura was charged with killing three people while driving under the influence of marijuana. However, a district judge didn’t think there was enough evidence for the New Jersey resident to stand trial on those charges.

Even though District Judge Jan Vislosky tossed the charges in 2024, Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta refiled them. He convinced a different judge to bind the charges over in 2025 and Baratta will prosecute Segura at a criminal trial next week in county court.
