CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The final phase of renovations to the Barracks Road Shopping Center will begin Monday, including the replacement of the sidewalk, but no disruptions are expected for the businesses in the area where work will be done.
The work “will enhance the public gathering area along the west side of Main Street between Spring Street and Soma,” a release from the property’s owner said. “This phase includes removal of the existing canopy and installation of a new canopy that increases visibility to merchant storefronts while continuing to provide coverage from the elements. Additional upgrades include new seating areas, specialty lighting, public art installations, refurbishment of the courtyard fountain, new signage, and regrading and replacement of the sidewalk.”
Parking spaces along Main St. will be unavailable during the work, which is expected to continue to August. The access road between Spring St. and Panera will be closed…
