Richland County felon sentenced to federal prison on gun charge

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The U.S. Department of Justice announced that a man was sentenced to federal prison on a gun charge.

U.S. District Judge Mary G. Lewis sentenced Yashawnus Patterson, 45, of Columbia, to eight years in prison, followed by three years of court-ordered supervision, after he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Patterson was convicted by a federal jury following a June 2025 trial. There is no parole in the federal system…
